Apply for Residency.
Residency is an integration into a collective machinery of production, collaboration, and high-altitude thinking. Quarterly cohorts. Invitation by application.
Department Residency is a community-first, application-based program that gives working creatives near-unlimited access to professional studio space, creative resources, and an environment built around making meaningful work.
The goal isn't simply to rent space. It's to remove as many barriers as possible between creative people and the work they want to make.
Residency operates on our Proud to Pay model. The suggested contribution is $250/month to help sustain the program, but financial circumstances are never the deciding factor.
People contribute to creative communities in many different ways — financially, or through knowledge, collaboration, mentorship, volunteering, or simply showing up consistently.
We want contribution — not income — to be the thing that matters.
Residency is intended for people who:
- Actively create work
- Value being around other working creatives
- Want access without financial gatekeeping
- Understand shared responsibility
- Enjoy collaboration and feedback
- Want to contribute to a creative community
This includes filmmakers, photographers, musicians, designers, artists, writers, fabricators, and multidisciplinary creatives. You don't need a particular resume, audience size, or income level — just genuine intent to create and participate.
